Hello Readers,
I haven’t posted in awhile. Haven’t really done anything with airguns so far this year. Thinking of creating a new rifle with side lever pellet probe and left hand cocking lever.
First have to do some testing to see if I can use the 22 Cal barrel I have. I want to be able to launch a heavy pellet, like 45 to 50 grains, accurately. Will use a testing apparatus I made years ago as the barrel will fit. This allows then to try longer homemade pelletsĀ or purchased pellets.
This will probably be my summer project pending on the results I get on some heavy pellets. Will then finish the design as I need to know how much hammer strength and travel I will need to launch the heavy pellet.
Thanks for reading. I will try to update as often as I can.

Quite a few larger pellets are of similar design to actual bullets due to the added weight and high velocities. From what I’ve been told some early daystate PCPs used rimfire barrels and .22LR bullets instead of pellets. The deeper rifling shouldn’t be as much of a problem with .22LR bullets as that’s what they are designed to take.
Just thought I’d throw some info in for you to try.
Hi James,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the 22 bullets. I have thought about this many times especially if you could get the micro groove barrels.
Many have said to use pure lead as it will seat better in the rifling for airguns.
I will post more when I get a chance to actually try the test rifle.
